Dr. Liam Allen

Chief Medical Director

I was born and raised on Long Island, New York and then moved to Park City, Utah when I was in high school. I earned my bachelor’s in veterinary technology and master’s in health sciences with a focus on animal parasitology at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. I graduated with my doctorate in veterinary medicine from Midwestern University in 2019. My areas of interest include soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and infectious disease. I live with my wife Katie and our two Scottish Terriers, Daphne and Dibbs. In our free time we enjoy camping, golfing, and gardening.

Dr. Neil Sweeney

I grew up here in Phoenix from the age of three. After high school, I joined the Navy for six years. I was stationed in South Carolina for two years and served onboard a submarine based out of Pearl Harbor for the remaining four. After that, I came back to Arizona to obtain my bachelors degree at University of Arizona in Tucson, where I met my wife. During school, I was also working full time at an emergency and specialty practice there. I then accepted an offer to attend Midwestern University - College of Veterinary Medicine in Glendale where I graduated in 2019.

Dr. Jetta Schirmer

I am an Arkansas native, born and raised. I attended the University of Arkansas and earned my bachelor’s degree in chemistry, with minors in math and biology. After undergrad, I spent some time working on my master’s degree and teaching chemistry at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock before attending Midwestern University where I completed my doctorate in veterinary medicine. I chose to move to Arizona because my husband is in the Air Force and Luke AFB was so close to the veterinary school. I absolutely love living here and hope we never have to leave! At home, I run a full house with 3 dogs, a cat, and 2 human children.

Dr. Kaila Cruz

I have always loved animals, and as a child, I dreamt of one day becoming a veterinarian. I have been in the veterinary industry for 8+ years now. In addition to my work as a veterinarian, I am also an avid outdoors enthusiast. I love hiking, camping, and exploring new places. I find that being out in nature helps me to recharge and refocus. At home, I have a small but loving family consisting of my husband, a daughter, and five furry companions. We have three dogs and two cats, all of whom we have rescued over the years. When I'm not working or adventuring outdoors, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to cook and share meals together, watch movies, and play board games. I believe that spending quality time with loved ones is essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. One of the things I love most about my job is the opportunity to help animals in need. Whether it's treating a sick or injured pet or providing preventative care to keep them healthy, I find great satisfaction in knowing that I am making a difference in their lives. I am grateful for the trust that my clients place in me and the relationships that I have formed with them and their pets over the years.

Dr. Reid Michaelis

Dr. Reid Michaelis was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a second-generation veterinarian as both his mother and father practice back in New Orleans. He achieved a bachelor’s degree in biology from Louisiana State University. He attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine for three years and did his clinical rotations at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. While at the University of Florida, he rescued his cat, Cheeks, from euthanasia and adopted him to join him on his journey. Cheeks and Reid moved to the Valley in October 2021. Away from work, Dr. Reid enjoys off-roading, lounging with Cheeks, playing tennis, weightlifting, water and snow skiing, and playing the piano.
